Assembly Instructions

Are there any online resources to help me assemble/use my product?
Online video instruction guides (VIGs) are available to assist you with set up, assembly, and use of your Agri-Fab product. CLICK HERE and enter your Product Number or VIG Number in the search box. The Product Number or VIG Number is located on the assembly instructions or packaging. Note:Some products may not have a VIG yet. In those cases refer to your assembly instructions for assistance.

Broadcast Spreaders

How do you know what flow control setting to use?
Each Agri-Fab spreader is designed with specific flow control settings. You refer to the application chart to select the proper flow setting rate. The higher the number, the wider the opening in the bottom of the hopper.

Agri-Fab no longer has a "spreader setting" chart as the seed and ferlilizer manufacturers change their recommended settings constantly. A good rule of thumb is:

3    for a light coverage
4    for a medium coverage and the lawn has been treated previously
5    for a heavy coverage or infestation of crabgrass

How do you know where to set the control rod for different materials?
There is a quick reference chart in the manual, as well as on the spreader itself. This covers pellet and granular fertilizers, as well as ice melt and grass seed. Recommendations for pellet and granular fertilizers are as follow:

Can you spread powdered lime with a broadcast spreader?
No. You must use pelletized lime with broadcast spreaders. Agri-Fab does not offer spreaders that work well with powdered lime.

Can you spread ice melt with these units?
Yes.

Can you spread sand with these units?
All of the Agri-Fab broadcast spreaders are designed for use with sand. However, the sand will need to be a very dry (no moisture) granular sand.

Can you convert a tow spreader to a push spreader?
No, the gear drive is opposite that of the push models.
Is there a grate or a screen available for these units?
We have a spreader grate, part number 47441. This keeps chemical or grass seed clumps from blocking the flow. It will work with any of the regular broadcast spreaders-- 100 lbs. and up.

Is there a hopper cover available for these units?
Yes. 45-0214 & 45-0215 are for part number 44619;
45-0210 & 45-0211 are for part number 43962.

Drop Spreaders

What is the hopper made out of?
They are poly hoppers that will not rust or corrode.

What is the weight capacity of Agri-Fab® carts?

Can these carts be pulled over the road?
No, Agri-Fab® carts are designed for lawn & garden and off-road use only.

Can the bushings and bearings be replaced?
Yes.

Is there a hitch pin included with the cart?
Yes.

Do the dump carts have grease zerks?
Yes, all except the 45-0100, 45-0303 & 45-0272.

Lawn Groomers

What is the difference between a spiker and a plugger?
A spiker pokes several small holes in the soil. A plugger actually penetrates and pulls a plug approx. 1/2" diameter by up to 3" long out of the ground.

Between spiking and plugging, which is the best type of aeration?
Plugging is. By pulling a plug out of the soil, more moisture and nutrients get to the root level for a healthier lawn and soil compaction is reduced to allow for easier root growth.

Can weight be added for deeper penetration?
Yes, all units come standard with a weight tray.

What does a dethatcher do?
It removes the layer of thatch, which is old grass clippings and debris that get embedded at the bottom layer of a lawn. It allows the lawn to breathe, and gets moisture and nutrients to the root level.

Are the tines replaceable?
Yes, part number 43783.

Can you put a dethatcher on a lawn sweeper?
Yes, there is an optional dethatcher. Product number 45-0343 will fit all Agri-Fab sweepers and most other lawn sweepers in the market.

Miscellaneous/About Us

Did Agri-Fab purchase Haban Manufacturing?
Agri-Fab did not purchase this company. We purchased the remaining stock in parts only for trail mowers and tow-behind tillers. No one supports their snow products or farm equipment.

Mowers

Can the mower be offset to either side?
Yes, this is easily done by releasing two levers, one at the front of the tongue and one at the rear of the tongue.

What models are available?
The only model available is the electric start 42" Rough Cut. Product number 45-0362.

Does it have an electric start?
Yes, the 42" mower does.

Does it come with a battery?
No, the battery is not included.

How large of a tree will the 42" rough cut handle?
Up to 1.75" diameter.

What information do I need when ordering parts?
Locate the silver or white sticker on your unit which says, "This model number required to order replacement parts." On it you will find all of the required information to order parts.

How do I order missing parts?

How are parts shipped?
Orders are shipped via UPS ground.

Rollers

What is the weight capacity of each lawn roller when filled with water?

45-0267 (Poly 18"x 24")	250 lb.

Should the water be drained prior to winter?
Yes. It is likely the water would freeze and crack the drum.

What are Agri-Fab rollers used for?
The Agri-Fab lawn rollers are designed to tackle uneven ground from moles or frost heaving, or to pack down newly sown seed or sod. For lighter work you can use the poly models. For heavy-duty performance, the steel models provide extra weight-- up to 910 lbs.

Can the rollers be filled with any other material?
Yes. Sand is often used as an alternative to water, but the roller should not be filled completely with sand. The recommendation is to fill it half full.

What is the minimum horsepower required to tow a roller?
The minimum horsepower required is 12 hp.

Should you roll up and down a slope, or across a slope?
Never roll up or down a slope. This is extremely dangerous. Always use caution and roll across any slopes.

Sleeve Hitch Attachments

How do you hook up this equipment?
It is required to have a sleeve hitch on the tractor.

Can you use this equipment with a lawn tractor?
No, you must have a garden tractor for this equipment.

How is the depth adjusted on the spring tine plow?
There are depth control skids that can be moved up or down.

Can the disc blades be angled on the disc cultivator?
Yes, they can be adjusted from 10 to 20 degrees.

How do you convert the box scraper to a rear blade?
Simply remove the scarifier bar and end plates.

Spiker/Spreaders

Can the spreader be used without the spiker feature?
No, the spiker is what drives the agitator in the spreader hopper.

Can you seed grass with this unit?
Yes, this is an excellent way to seed grass.

What kind of drive system do they have?
Chain drive, which is pre-assembled at the factory.

Sprayers

What is the spray width using the booms?
Spray width is 80" on all models.

How far will the hand wand spray?
It is adjustable from a fine mist to a jet stream, which will spray up to 20 ft.

Does the sprayer have its own battery?
No, it comes with a wiring harness with a quick connect, so that the leads may be left hooked to the tractor battery. Simply unplug the wiring harness.

Can chemicals be stored in the tank for long periods of time?
No. The tank should be flushed after each use.

What should I use to flush the sprayer out?
Use a solution that is 2 parts water and 1 part ammonia.

Can diesel fuel or gasoline be sprayed with these sprayers?
No, absolutely not. Never spray any type of flammable liquid or material with an Agri-Fab® sprayer.

Sweepers

What is the brush-to-wheel ratio on the sweepers?

What keeps the brush from turning when backing up?
Agri-Fab® incorporates a pinion and dow pin system that free-wheels when backing up.

What is the proper brush height setting?
For maximum performance, the brushes should be lowered 1/2" into the grass.

Will the sweeper pick up beech nuts/walnuts?
The Agri-Fab lawn sweepers are designed to tackle grass clippings and leaves. They might do an adequate job sweeping beech nuts/walnuts if they are not imbedded in the ground. However, it may be necessary to sweep the lawn twice, in opposite directions, to pick up all of the nuts. Also, sweeping nuts, in time, would wear or damage the brushes.

Will the sweeper pick up grass clippings and leaves when they are wet?
We do not recommend sweeping wet grass clippings and leaves. The Agri-Fab lawn sweepers are designed to sweep dry grass clippings and leaves and thus you should wait for it to dry. However, they might do an adequate job if the lawn is swept numerous times in opposite directions. Sweeping wet grass and leaves will clump and become obstructed in the brushes and wheels cuasing damage to the brushes and wheels. Since it would be heavier than dry grass, you will put pressure on the hopper bag and it would rip at the seams.

Will the sweeper pick up pine straw?
Yes, it will do an adequate job. However, it may be necessary to sweep the lawn twice, in opposite directions, to pick up all the pine straw.

Do your sweepers work on synthetic grass?
The Agri-Fab lawn sweepers are not designed for synthetic grass.

Can you use your sweepers on driveways or pavements?
Our lawn sweepers have never been designed for driveways or pavements, hence the name "Lawn Sweeper." Using the lawn sweepers on a driveway will damage the brushes.

Can you put a dethatcher on a lawn sweeper?
Yes, there is an optional dethatcher.
Model #45-0262 will fit the 45-0260.
Model #45-0343 will fit all Agri-Fab sweepers and most other lawn sweepers in the market.

Tillers

Do you have to have a sleeve hitch to attach the tiller?
No, it attaches with a simple pin hitch.

What horsepower tractor is required to pull this tiller?
A 12 horsepower or greater tractor is required.

Can it be used behind a lawn tractor?
Yes, as long as it has a pin hitch.

What is the tilling width?
36".

What direction do the tines turn?
Forward.

How deep will it till?
A maximum of 5.5".

Vac Systems

Which tractors will your vacs fit?
The Agri-Fab vacs will fit up to any LT or GT tractor with a right-hand discharge, belly mount mower and no more than a 54" mower deck.

Can your vacs be used with ZTR mowers?
We do not recommend using them with a ZTR mower. However, if you choose to use with a ZTR mower, you would need to purchase the Hose Extension Kit, part number 65640, which includes a 6" diameter x 3 1/2' hose, two clamps and a coupler. You will also need to fabricate a support for the hose around the tractor seat or rear engine, as the hose will drag on the ground. The tractor must also be right-hand discharge only and have a hitch plate on the back to accept a simple hitch pin. While operating, wide turns must be made.

What horsepower tractor is needed to use your vacs?
14 horsepower and up is sufficient.

What is the capacity of the Mow-N-Vac and Chip-N-Vac?
32 cu. ft. & 41 cu. ft. for the 45-0327.

Can you convert a Mow-N-Vac to a Chip-N-Vac?
You cannot convert the Mow-N-Vac to a Chip-N-Vac due to liability issues. There is also no kit for the chipper parts, thus it can't be changed over.

What do you do if the elbow does not line up with the boot on the hard top?
Loosen each of the four bolts that attach the engine to the welded angle brackets on the tongue, push the elbow over to center it with the boot, and retighten the four bolts.

How do you hook the hose to the tractor deck?
It comes with a universal deck adapter. This adapter can be cut to fit the specific right-hand discharge deck. There are templates included for the most popular decks.

Is there an adapter available for a left-hand discharge deck?
No, the vac systems will only work on right-hand discharge.

What kind of impeller is used on the Mow-N-Vac?
Year 200 and newer MowN-Vacs have a 1" tapered shaft (impeller).

Are there multiple hoses available for your vacs?
We have only one hose for our vac systems, part number 43792, 6" diameter x 84" length. We do, however, have a Hose Extension Kit available. This kit includes a 6" diameter x 3 1/2' hose, two hose clamps and a coupler.

Is there a hose extension kit available?
Yes, the part number is 65640.

Is there a remote hose kit available?
Yes, the part number is 45-0253.
